Our first impressions of Kesterson house was that this beautiful old Victorian building had a modern story to tell. Although it posed a list of challenges, such as restricted access and limited parking, the thought of restoring and creating a new functional space for our clients excited us. We embraced the challenge of executing the architect's design.

This 1876 Heritage listed House in North Melbourne was due for a face lift.
Architecture practice Timmins + Whyte designed a beautiful rear extension which created a light filled sanctuary for the family, bringing the outside in.
From a building perspective, this design required an eye for attention to detail, and a high level of craftsmanship. The process of seeing this design and build come to life was extremely rewarding.

This tired and dated Californian bungalow was given an injection of new life to accommodate a family of four including two teenage children.
Embracing its original charm the owners wanted to stay true to the era of the home replicating the original façade shingles and replacing the front windows with traditional double hung windows. The front porch was updated with beautiful tessellated tiles and the picturesque front was completed with a modern landscaped garden.
The front door draws your eye beyond the wide corridor with its majestic high ceilings to the rear courtyard framing the greenery beyond and the rear modern extension creates a seamless flow between the interior and exterior.
The warm soft colour palette is infused with soft timber tones and the v groove joinery creates a relaxed coastal vibe.

This Victorian Terrace located in the leafy streets of Flemington was converted to accomodate the needs of a young busy family. The addition of a large extension which wrapped around the property enabled the flow of natural light throughout the space.
Various building details added texture, colour, pattern and light effects to the build. Hit and miss brickwork bridging the old with the new created a unique feature allowing natural light to filter into the home during the day, while a golden glow is emitted at night.
Mutina Puzzle tiles used in the bathrooms, kitchen and laundry created a unique striking effect bringing colour and vibrancy to the home.
The external timber cladding adds warmth and texture to all the outdoor spaces.
This Californian Bungalow in Northcote had a modern extension added to the rear.
Its design had to grow with a young family that required two different living zones tied together by a central courtyard. The sound of water running in the fishpond and the warm sun bathing the rooms with beautiful natural light create a tranquil lifestyle in this urban location.

This home belongs to a creative couple and their two children. Their aim was to capture the true history of the suburb where it resides.
By incorporating a sawtooth ceiling in the new extension, Architecture practice, Studio Ester not only reflected the style of the old factories in Brunswick but also created a beautiful play of light within the house at different times of the day.
Unique features like a pink tiled curved shower, personalised this family home and the extension enhanced the way this family live.

This family home required an update to internal living spaces in order to accommodate the changes of family life.
The challenge was to add a small extension which would blend seamlessly with the existing house.
The updated space provides a warm and soothing environment, surrounded by plush gardens and with beautiful detailed finishes such as Brodware rumbled brass tapware and bespoke metal pieces by Justin Purser, this home reflects the stylish uniqueness of its owners.

This pretty Edwardian house in Northcote was stripped backed to its bare bones and rebuilt.
The young couple wanted to retain some of the traditional features of the home as well as add a modern open plan extension to the rear.
This home was one of our first projects and it has beautifully stood the test of time and met the changing demands of this growing family.
This grand Georgian style home has been well lived in and was due for a makeover.
With slight adjustments to the floorplan, the details of this home are now accentuated by this modern update and will create many more lasting memories for this adult family.
